A Mission Born From Love, Lived Experience, & Hope
Libby’s Friends was established in 2020 in honor of Libby Hagan after the Hagan family experienced firsthand the financial hardship that can come with caring for a loved one with a disability.
Our mission is to ease the financial burden of living with a disability by providing grants to families quickly and efficiently to help cover their greatest needs. At the center of that mission is a simple but powerful belief: families should not have to carry these burdens alone.
Libby’s story is the heart of everything we do. Her life was marked by extraordinary joy, resilience, and a spirit that touched everyone around her. Through every challenge, Libby inspired her family and community with the beauty of her life and the way she brought people together. Today, her legacy lives on through every family we serve, every grant we award, and every effort we make to help create more good days across Alabama.
The Family Behind the Mission
The Hagan family—Lane, Kathryn, and their four children, Libby, Drew, Grace, and Ann Curtis—are the heart behind Libby’s Friends. Their journey has been shaped by love, resilience, and a deep commitment to inclusion.
Lane and Kathryn have dedicated themselves to providing Libby with the best possible care and opportunities.
Her three younger siblings—Drew (10), Grace (8), and Ann Curtis (3)—grew up alongside her, learning firsthand the importance of compassion, patience, and advocacy. They continue to honor their sister’s legacy by carrying forward her spirit of joy and inclusion in everything they do.
Together, the Hagan family’s story reminds us of the power of family, the beauty of community, and the lasting impact of one child’s life.
Help Us Wrap Our Arms Around More Families
Libby’s Friends exists because one family chose to turn pain into purpose and love into action. Today, that mission continues through a growing community of people who believe families living with disability deserve support, dignity, and hope.
Whether your family needs help or you want to help make that support possible, there is a place for you here.
